Pamela Jones is a Supervised Fieldwork Advisor & Course Instructor at Bank Street College. She holds an MSEd from Bank Street and an MPA from Columbia University. Her work bridges critical literacies, social justice education, and language equity in K-12 settings. Pam specializes in fostering home-school partnerships and interrogating linguistic policing in educational systems, particularly impacting Black and Brown students.
Her research explores intergenerational language practices in African-American families and the intersections of activism, teaching, and scholarship. Pam has presented widely on culturally sustaining pedagogies, code-meshing, and dismantling systemic inequities in education. Notable workshops include sessions at the College Conference on Composition and Communication (2018) and the Congressional Black Caucus’s Annual Legislative Conference (2011).
As an educator and activist, Pam emphasizes helping trainees recognize the political dimensions of teaching. Her publications and presentations consistently advocate for radical self-care among educators and ethically subversive practices to counter oppressive systems. While no formal grants are listed, her community-engaged work demonstrates sustained commitment to marginalized student populations.
