Pamela Abit is a Lecturer in the Environmental Science Undergraduate Program and the Department of Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering at Oklahoma State University (OSU). She concurrently serves as Grant Program Manager for the South Central Sun Grant Program and the Biobased Products and Energy Center at OSU. Her primary research interest lies in Plant Ecophysiology, focusing on plant functional ecology and plant-environment interactions.
Educationally, she holds a Ph.D. in Plant Biology (Plant Functional Ecology) from North Carolina State University (2003–2008), an M.S. in Botany (Plant Taxonomy) from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (1997–2000), and a B.S. in Agriculture (Plant Protection/Weed Science) from Visayas State University (1992–1996).
Since 2019, Abit has taught multiple iterations of ENVR 1113: Elements of Environmental Science, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to environmental issues through biology, chemistry, economics, and agricultural science. Her teaching consistently addresses ethics, risk management, and sustainability in agricultural systems and natural resources.
Her administrative role manages grants for biosystems engineering and biobased energy initiatives, supporting interdisciplinary research and innovation in renewable resources.
