Palmer Shonk is an Adjunct Instructor of Music specializing in Bagpipes at The College of Wooster. He has a background in competitive piping, having served as Pipe Sergeant and Pipe Major in the College’s pipe band during his studies and later with the Grade One Toronto Police Pipe Band. Currently, he competes professionally in bagpipe competitions across Canada, the U.S., and Scotland.
Palmer graduated from The College of Wooster in 2010 and has been affiliated with the institution as both a student and instructor. He was a recipient of the College’s Scottish Arts Scholarship during his undergraduate years.
His expertise centers on traditional Scottish bagpipe performance, competitive piping techniques, and music education. He has contributed to preserving and promoting Scottish musical traditions through his involvement with organizations like the Ohio Scottish Arts School, where he teaches piping.

While no formal grants are noted, Palmer has mentored students in piping through his teaching roles and leadership in pipe bands. His experience includes guiding the College’s pipe band members as Pipe Sergeant and Pipe Major.
Palmer is associated with the College of Wooster Pipe Band and the Toronto Police Pipe Band, where he has competed and contributed to their achievements. He also participates in solo competitions at the professional level.
