Palani-Rajan Kadapakkam

Palani-Rajan Kadapakkam is the inaugural Frost Finance Endowed Chair and Professor of Finance at the Carlos Alvarez College of Business, University of Texas at San Antonio. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and a PGDBA (MBA equivalent) from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. His research focuses on corporate finance, market efficiency, and financial policies, with notable work on merger synergies, stock repurchases, and capital structure dynamics. He has held visiting roles at the University of Michigan and previously taught at American University and the University of Houston.

Professor Kadapakkam's research has been published in leading journals including the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, and Journal of Banking and Finance. His work has been recognized with awards such as the President’s Distinguished Achievement Award (2001) and the Col. Jean Piccione Research Award (2008). He also serves on the Board of Advisers for the Financial Management Association’s Survey and Synthesis series.

In teaching, he instructs graduate-level Corporate Valuation and undergraduate Intermediate Corporate Finance courses, earning multiple teaching accolades including the E. Lou Curry Teaching Excellence Award (2010). His research interests span firm financial policies, market anomalies, and supply chain finance linkages, with investigations into topics like stock price behavior, government intervention effects, and venture capital partnership dynamics.

His academic contributions reflect a blend of theoretical rigor and practical insights, addressing critical questions in corporate finance and market efficiency while maintaining strong ties to policy and industry practices.
