Kartono Liano

Kartono Liano is a Professor of Finance at Mississippi State University's College of Business, specifically within the Department of Finance and Economics. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Alabama (1989), an MBA from Ohio University (1984), and a B.S.B.A. from Ohio Northern University (1983). His research focuses on financial markets, real estate finance, investment analysis, and corporate finance, with a particular emphasis on REITs, stock repurchases, and market efficiency.

Dr. Liano has received numerous awards for research and teaching, including the J. J. Rouse Outstanding Researcher Award (2009), McGraw-Hill Irwin Best Paper Award (2010), and Red Pen Award (2011). His work frequently explores dividend policies, investor behavior, and the informational content of corporate actions like stock splits and repurchases.

His recent publications analyze topics such as REIT long-term returns, post-earnings announcement drift, and the impact of stock repurchases on price informativeness. He has collaborated extensively with researchers like Gow-Cheng Huang and Ming-Shiun Pan.
