Paidamoyo Chingono is a Marie Sklodowska-Curie PhD Fellow in Archaeology at the University of Glasgow, specializing in environmental archaeology. Her research focuses on reconstructing land-use systems in Southern Africa’s drylands over the Holocene to understand long-term human-environment interactions and climate resilience strategies. She employs Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, and computational modeling to synthesize archaeological and environmental datasets.
Her current project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe (Grant No. 101120560) and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EP/Y03290X/1), contributes to the AGRI-DRY initiative, integrating indigenous ecological knowledge with modern climate adaptation strategies. Her work bridges prehistoric practices and contemporary challenges, emphasizing biodiversity conservation and sustainable land management.
Publications include African Archaeological Review (2023), analyzing archaeological sites in Kweneng, South Africa. Chingono’s research highlights the global significance of early anthropogenic impacts on climate systems, offering empirical insights for addressing modern environmental crises.
