Paddy Murphy

Dr. Paddy Murphy is an Honorary Professor at Bangor University, affiliated with the School of Natural Sciences. His research focuses on organic chemistry, particularly the synthesis and application of guanidine-containing natural products. He has expertise in asymmetric catalysis, biosynthesis, and materials chemistry. Murphy has led projects such as the total synthesis of cylindrospermopsin alkaloids and the development of quinone-based pro-drug delivery systems. His work includes collaborations on parasitology and anti-schistosomal agents. He has authored over 100 publications, with recent contributions in organocatalyst design, guanidine chemistry, and toxicological studies. Key projects include the KESS II PhD collaboration with Phytovation Ltd (2016–2022) and the synthesis of marine alkaloids.
