Dr. Pablo de Orellana is a Senior Lecturer in International Relations at King’s College London’s Department of War Studies, within the School of Security Studies. His interdisciplinary research examines diplomacy, nationalism, and the intersection of art with conflict. He holds a PhD from King’s College London (2015), following degrees from Oxford and Cambridge.

His research explores how diplomatic communication shapes policy through intersections of political philosophy, literary analysis, and art history. Key areas include nationalism’s evolution, identity politics, and the role of art in conflict analysis. He co-authored Global Nationalism (2023) and collaborates on projects like the Arts & Conflict Hub and Future Threats Lab.
Recent articles analyze reactionary internationalism, postcolonial sovereignty, and nationalist movements. He advises on interdisciplinary research, blending historical archives with contemporary case studies. Active in public engagement, he participated in events on Ukraine’s logistics, Brexit discourse, and the role of art in conflict reflection.
De Orellana leads the Research Centre in International Relations (RCIR) and co-founded the Truth Tellers project. His teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate programs in International Relations, War Studies, and History.
