Professor Pablo Gregorini serves as Professor in the Department of Agricultural Sciences at Lincoln University, New Zealand, where he directs the Lincoln University Pastoral Livestock Production Lab and leads the Centre of Excellence for Designing Future Productive Landscapes. Internationally, he chairs the International Scientific Committee for the Nutrition of Herbivores and serves on the International Scientific Committee for farm systems design. He is also a member of the International Scientific Board of ALEPH (Interdisciplinary consortium working on 'the role of Animal Foods in Healthy, Sustainable and Ethical Diets') and NITRO-Oceania.
Gregorini holds a PhD in Animal Science/Ruminant Nutrition and Foraging Ecology from the University of Arkansas, an MSc in Animal Production from Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata, and a Bachelor in Agricultural Sciences from Universidad Nacional de La Plata. He is dual-certified as a Diplomate of the American College of Animal Nutrition and the American College of Applied Animal Behavior.
His research program investigates nutrition, foraging ecology and grazing management of wild and domesticated ruminants across global grasslands and rangelands, with particular focus on how phyto-chemistry links human and herbivore palates with soil, plants and landscapes. Current projects include designing future grazing systems for grasslands and human health, animal design for future foodscapes, cattle and deer grazing personalities for mountainous landscapes, dietary variety for grazing ruminants, deer growth seasonality management, and nitrogen use efficiency where animals serve as environmental solutions rather than problems.
His recent publication record demonstrates sophisticated integration of metabolomics, sustainable agriculture, and food systems research. Key trends include connecting plant-animal-human health through metabolomics, examining regenerative farming benefits for dairy products, and developing community-based frameworks for catchment management that address One Health principles. His work consistently bridges agricultural productivity with environmental sustainability and human health outcomes.
