معرفی
Abbigail Hines is an Assistant Professor of Animal Science in the College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources at Kentucky State University, where she conducts research and extension work focused on sustainable forage-based livestock production systems.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Ruminant Nutrition, Auburn University
- M.S. in Herbivore Nutrition, Tarleton State University
- B.S. in Animal Science (Minor in Biology), Tarleton State University
Dr. Hines' research centers on optimizing forage-livestock systems through improved pasture management, animal nutrition, and health. Her work emphasizes the role of forage quality, plant secondary metabolites, and nutrient cycling in enhancing ruminant digestibility and reducing environmental impacts such as methane emissions. She investigates native and commercial legume species that naturally reduce gastrointestinal parasite loads in beef cattle and small ruminants without compromising productivity.
Her research contributes to sustainable agriculture by integrating ecological principles with animal science to develop economically viable and environmentally responsible production practices.
