Pablo Coralio Ballester

Pablo Coralio Ballester is a Full Professor in the Department of Fundamentals of Economic Analysis at the University of Alicante's Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences. His academic background includes a PhD in Economics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2005), a Master in Economic Analysis from the same institution (2001), and a degree in Economic and Business Sciences from the University of Navarra (1995).

Professor Ballester's research focuses on social networks in economics, group formation complexity, segregation phenomena, and bounded rationality. His work bridges theoretical economics with experimental approaches to understand human decision-making processes. He has published in prestigious journals including Games and Economic Behavior, Review of Economics and Statistics, and Econometrica.

His recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on experimental economics and network theory, with his 2024 paper on cognitive reflection in guessing games representing the latest development in his research trajectory. The articles show progression from theoretical work on hidden complementarities to more contemporary experimental approaches examining cognitive processes in economic decision-making.

Professor Ballester has supervised three doctoral theses to completion and directed numerous undergraduate and master's theses. He has participated in multiple significant research projects including 'La TEx 2020: Microeconomía "made in Alicante"' as coordinator and 'Economía del Comportamiento y Retos Sociales Actuales' as collaborator. His current research projects extend through 2029, including 'Measurement, Health, and Competition'.

He is actively involved with the Microeconomics, Behavioral Economics and Experimental Economics (BeMiX) research group and serves as Department Secretary for the Department of Fundamentals of Economic Analysis.
