PJ Zaborowski is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at the University of Iowa, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, where he teaches and conducts research at the intersection of medieval literature, communication, and narrative theory.
His research focuses on how people communicated from the Middle Ages to the present, particularly examining the role of medieval messengers as both historical actors and literary constructs. Key areas include Medieval Studies, Early Modern Literature, Book History, Book Studies, and Digital Humanities. He explores how narratives shape identity, belief, and social understanding, and how communication can be distorted with significant consequences.
His current book project expands on his dissertation, which investigates the overlooked function of messengers in medieval literature and their symbolic representation of the fragility of information transmission in the medieval world system. He brings a deep passion for storytelling into his pedagogy, encouraging students to engage with narratives as tools for empathy and self-expression.
He earned his PhD in English Literature and an MA in Library and Information Science from the University of Iowa in 2025, along with certificates in Digital Humanities and Book Studies.
PJ Zaborowski is actively engaged in interdisciplinary scholarship but no scientific awards or publications are listed in the current profile. He advises students in literary and humanistic inquiry, though no specific advisees are mentioned. He is involved in digital and book-based research communities through his certifications and scholarly focus.
