PC Hoek

Dr. PC Hoek serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Religious Beliefs and Ethics within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He teaches Apologetics, Catechetics (HHS), and three levels of Homiletics (History and Theory, Sermon Preparation Process, and advanced practice) for the 2024-2025 academic year. Concurrently, he holds active roles as Board Member of Stichting Meldpunt Misbruik in Kerkelijke Relaties (Amersfoort) and Pastor in the Hersteld Hervormde Kerk (Veenendaal) since May 2019.

His research spans Systematic Theology with specialization in Dutch Reformed tradition (Nadere Reformatie), focusing on doctrinal development in Reformation contexts. Key interests include homiletical theory, rhetorical strategies in preaching, Christological frameworks, and ethical applications of theological concepts. His work demonstrates deep engagement with historical theological sources while addressing contemporary pastoral challenges in church practice and abuse prevention.
