Ozayr Saloojee is a Professor of Architecture and chair of the PhD and MAS programs at the Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism at Carleton University. He holds cross-appointments at Carleton’s Institute for African Studies and Centre for the Study of Islam, and is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Minnesota. His work explores architecture’s entanglements with material, cultural, and political worlds, focusing on themes of power, diaspora, borders, and belonging.

His research examines politically contested terrains, infrastructure, and landscapes, with a sustained interest in the art and architecture of the Islamic world. He has led studios and seminars on topics such as hydro-politics in Palestine, urban justice in Istanbul, mining landscapes in Johannesburg, and the colonial footprints of museums.

Saloojee has contributed to international venues including the Venice Architecture Biennale (2021 and 2023 shortlists) and the Lisbon Architecture Triennale (2023) via collaborations with collectives like Fluid Boundaries, HiLo/YOW+, and Dark Matter University. He is co-editing Design Research for Uncertain Futures with Jamie Vanucchi (Oro, 2024).
