Oyinlola Oyebode

Professor Oyinlola Oyebode is a Professor of Public Health and Lead of the Centre for Public Health & Policy at Queen Mary University of London’s Wolfson Institute of Population Health. Her work focuses on behavioral risk-factors for non-communicable diseases (especially diet), health equity in marginalized urban populations, and knowledge mobilization to bridge research-policy gaps. She holds an honorary consultant role with the UK’s Office for Health Improvement and Disparities and leads academic training for public health registrars.

Research interests include global public health challenges such as food insecurity in slum communities, gender disparities in active travel, and the impact of urbanization on dietary patterns. She contributes to policy through advisory roles with institutions like Warwick Interdisciplinary Research Centre for International Development. Teaching responsibilities include modules on public health nutrition and planetary health at QMUL, and external examining roles at Imperial College London and the University of Nottingham.

Her publications analyze socioeconomic health inequalities, sustainable food systems, and interventions to improve dietary choices. Supervised research spans preconception health equity, plant-based diets in children, and ethnic disparities in gastrointestinal disease. She has collaborated on studies in Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Ghana.

Awards and recognitions include Fellowship of the Faculty of Public Health (FFPH since 2014) and committee roles in academic public health governance. Her work emphasizes translating evidence into actionable strategies for improving population health outcomes.
