Dame Ottoline Leyser is Regius Professor of Botany at the University of Cambridge and CEO of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). She holds a BA (1986) and PhD (1990) in Genetics from Cambridge, conducted post-doctoral research at Indiana University and Cambridge, and was previously a lecturer at the University of York (1994-2010). She is a Fellow of Clare College and leads research at the Sainsbury Laboratory focused on plant development mechanisms.
Her primary research explores plant biology and food security, specifically investigating plant development and hormone signaling pathways to address global agricultural challenges.
Awards recognizing her scientific contributions include:
