Oscar van der Have is a Postdoctoral Researcher and Physician in Pediatric Cardiology at Lund University's Faculty of Medicine, affiliated with the Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine (WCMM). Holding both MD and PhD qualifications, he maintains active clinical practice in children's cardiology while conducting advanced vascular biology research. His institutional email is oscar.van_der_have@med.lu.se with ORCID 0000-0003-4726-0697.
Dr. van der Have's research centers on pediatric cardiovascular pathologies with emphasis on pulmonary hypertension, vascular remodeling, and heart transplantation outcomes. He utilizes cutting-edge synchrotron-based X-ray microtomography to investigate vascular lesions and lung vascular resistance mechanisms. His work directly contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through translational pediatric cardiology research.
His 2025 publications reveal concentrated focus on Scandiatransplant registry analyses spanning 38 years of pediatric heart transplantation data across Nordic countries. Key trends include single-ventricle physiology outcomes, donor heart ischemia mechanisms, and evidence-based guidelines for pulmonary hypertension management. This body of work demonstrates strong collaboration with international registries and clinical networks.
Currently leading the research project 'The Importance of Basement Membranes for Cardiovascular Development and Disease' (2026-2029) as primary researcher, he recently completed his doctoral dissertation 'Lecticans in Vascular Remodeling of the Pulmonary and Fetal Circulation' (2020-2025). His collaborative network spans multiple Scandinavian institutions as evidenced by multi-national registry studies and Mendeley readership.
