Orkun Akseli is Professor of Commercial Law at the University of Manchester School of Law, specializing in secured transactions law reform and international financial law. His research examines credit facilitation through legal harmonization.

Research analyzes global secured transactions law frameworks including the UNCITRAL Model Law and their impact on credit access and financial inclusion. Current projects examine digital assets in property law and sustainable finance legal structures.
Actively contributes to UNIDROIT Working Group for Model Law on Factoring and national law reform initiatives. Served as Specialist Adviser to REF 2021 Law sub-panel.
Teaching includes Corporate Law, International Banking Law, and Commercial Dispute Resolution. Recent visiting appointments include Elon University Law School as Fulbright Scholar.
