Orhan Oz

Orhan Oz is a Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Chief of Nuclear Medicine at UT Southwestern. He also serves as Professor of Biomedical Engineering at UT Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Medical Director of Nuclear Medicine at Parkland Memorial Hospital, and Director of UT Southwestern's Nuclear Medicine Residency program. His clinical interests include nuclear medicine, thyroid and musculoskeletal diseases, cancer imaging, and neuroendocrine malignancies.

• Education: Bachelor’s in biology, chemistry, and mathematics from Morehouse College; master’s in applied mathematics from Clark Atlanta University; medical and doctoral degrees in biophysics from Stanford University.

Dr. Öz's research focuses on imaging pancreatic beta cells, diabetic foot infections, novel imaging probe development, and estrogen regulation of bone mass and metabolism. He co-directs the Preclinical Nuclear Imaging Laboratory and Molecular Imaging Probe Laboratory at UT Southwestern, and holds advanced training in proton emission tomography (PET) from UCLA.

He is a member of prestigious societies such as the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI), Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and American Society of Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR). Dr. Öz contributes as a reviewer for journals like Bone, Journal of Nuclear Medicine, and Cell Chemical Biology, and has lectured globally in Australia, Turkey, and China.
