Oren Siegel is an Assistant Professor of Egyptian Archaeology at the University of Toronto, specializing in the Near Eastern Art and Archaeology. His research focuses on the archaeology and material culture of Egypt and Nubia, with particular interest in boundaries and border-making, urbanism, and landscape archaeology.
Dr. Siegel received his PhD from the University of Chicago in 2020. His dissertation examined monumental enclosure walls in Egypt before the New Kingdom, which he is currently revising into a book project. He has extensive field experience at sites including Mendes, Tell Edfu, and Uronarti, and is affiliated with the Aswan-Kom Ombo and Uronarti Regional Archaeological Projects.
