Dr. Orchisama Das is a Researcher in the Department of Engineering at King’s College London, focusing on audio signal processing and immersive audio technologies. She joined the university in August 2024 and has a strong background in room acoustics modeling and artificial reverberation using machine learning.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s in Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering from Jadavpur University (2016)
- PhD from Stanford University’s Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) (2021)
Her research spans adaptive intelligent systems, communication and information engineering, and spatial audio rendering. She previously developed spatial audio algorithms for Sonos’ Ace headphones and worked on the EPSRC-funded SCReAM project at the University of Surrey. Her work integrates fundamental DSP research with practical applications in augmented reality and audio plugins.
Dr. Das has held internships at Tesla, Meta Reality Labs, IRCAM, and TU Berlin, focusing on vibration analysis and room acoustics for AR. She is also an active musician, collaborating in the duo Showa Duto and producing music independently.
