Orbán Annamáris

Orbán Annamáris is an Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology and Communication, Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences (GTK), Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). She also serves as a Researcher at the Department of Urban Planning, Faculty of Architecture (EPK), BME, reflecting her interdisciplinary engagement in urban and socio-economic research.

Her research interests span a broad range of multidisciplinary themes, including sustainable local and urban development, social capital and economy, intergenerational family solidarity, socio-cultural innovations, and regional branding. These interests are reflected in her extensive participation in international research projects and academic collaborations across Europe.

Orbán Annamáris has been actively involved in several EU-funded research and educational initiatives, such as the Joint European Master in Comparative Local Development (CoDe), the ENSURE project on energy savings in urban areas, and the DANUrB series on Danube urban branding. She has also contributed to projects like Q-Ageing, INTERFASOL, and HOPES, focusing on social cohesion and sustainable development.

She is a member of the International Sustainable Development Research Society (ISDRS) and has served as Co-chair of the 'Sustainable cities and regions/urban and regional resilience' track since 2020. Her past leadership roles include Vice Dean of International and Scientific Affairs at BME GTK (2012–2015).

Her academic background includes an MA in Economics and a PhD in Political Science from Central European University (CEU), completed in 2003. Her work bridges sociology, economics, and policy studies, with a strong emphasis on practical and community-based solutions to urban and regional challenges.
