معرفی
Ophelia Shalini Venturelli is an Associate Professor at Duke University, holding dual appointments in the Department of Biomedical Engineering (Pratt School of Engineering) and Molecular Genetics and Microbiology (Basic Science Departments). Her research integrates systems biology, synthetic biology, and computational modeling to study and engineer microbiomes with a focus on host-microbiome interactions and microbial metabolism.
- Education: Ph.D., California Institute of Technology (2013)
Her work spans gut microbiota dynamics, metabolic pathway analysis, and microbial community control systems, supported by major grants from the National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation. Recent projects include modeling short-chain fatty acid production for personalized nutrition and designing synthetic gut microbiomes for predictable functions.
Recognition includes being named a Langford Lecturer in 2024. She teaches courses such as BME 260L: Modeling Cellular and Molecular Systems and BME 791: Graduate Independent Study. Learn more about her work at the Venturelli Lab.
