Dr. Oonagh McSorley is a Lecturer (Education) at Queen’s University Belfast’s School of Nursing and Midwifery. Her research focuses on improving quality of life and coping mechanisms for men with prostate cancer, alongside evaluating cancer treatment side-effects. She employs both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including in-depth interviews and latent growth modeling. Dr. McSorley teaches undergraduate nursing modules, co-coordinates the Developing Leadership & Professionalism course, and leads the Specialist Practice Nursing Course in Oncology at the postgraduate level.
Leadership roles include membership on the School’s Health and Conduct Committee and the UK Oncology Nursing Society. She supervises graduate students, including Layla Salem Alshammari (PhD) and Kawthar Al Jabri (MSc), researching nurse-led foot care education and palliative care development. Her work aligns with UN SDGs, addressing health equity and quality healthcare.
Her recent articles analyze multidisciplinary teamwork in cancer care, foot care interventions for diabetes patients, and the role of clinical nurse specialists. Dr. McSorley contributes to nursing education initiatives and participates in international oncology conferences.
