معرفی
Dr Ooi Seng Keat is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Head of the Ecological Monitoring, Informatics and Dynamics group at the Tropical Marine Science Institute (TMSI), National University of Singapore. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Iowa (2006) and has held academic and research roles since 2008, including Senior Research Fellow positions at TMSI and the Singapore-Delft Water Alliance. His expertise spans coastal engineering, hydraulics, water resources management, and environmental fluid mechanics.
Dr Ooi’s research focuses on tropical environmental flows, interactions between biota and the environment, and climate impacts on water resources. He has pioneered studies on mangrove ecosystems, sea level anomalies in the Malacca Strait, and pollutant dynamics in tropical coastal waters. His work integrates hydrodynamic modeling with ecological analysis to address urbanization and climate change challenges.
His recent publications (2015–2022) emphasize coastal and marine systems, including monsoonal metal variations, nutrient cycling comparisons, and storm-driven mixing in straits. These studies highlight interdisciplinary approaches to environmental challenges, blending field data with advanced numerical models.
Dr Ooi leads the Ecological Monitoring group at TMSI, advancing research on tropical marine ecosystems and urban marine environments. His contributions have informed operational forecasting systems and coastal management strategies in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
