Assoc. Prof. Ooi Chien Wei is an Associate Professor at the Malaysia School of Engineering, Monash University Malaysia. His research focuses on bioprocess design, biocatalysis, and biomass valorization, with applications in enzyme engineering, smart hydrogels, and bioseparation systems. He has secured over RM680,000 in research grants as principal investigator, holds 6 patents, and has published over 130 ISI-indexed journals.
Education: Ph.D. in Bioprocess Engineering (Universiti Putra Malaysia, 2011), B.Sc. in Biotechnology (UTAR, 2007), Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (Monash, 2013).
Research Interests: Bioseparation systems, recombinant protein production, biocatalysis in waste management, and sustainable bio-based technologies. Collaborations include industry partners for smart hydrogel development and biocatalysis strategies.
Awards: Monash-Sunway Decarbonization Initiative Award (2018). Teaching: Courses in biochemical engineering, bionano engineering, and process system analysis.
