Doç. Dr. Onur YILMAZ is an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department (English Program) at Doğuş Üniversitesi's Faculty of Science and Letters since 2020. His academic career includes roles at Bezm-i Âlem Vakif Üniversitesi (2015-2020) and Gülhane Askeri Tip Akademisi (2005-2010). He holds a medical degree from Gülhane Askeri Tip Akademi's Askeri Tip Fakültesi (1996-2002) and specialized in psychiatry at GATA Haydarpaşa Eğitim Hastanesi.
Research interests focus on psychoanalytic and existential psychotherapies, neuropsychiatry, and psychiatric comorbidities. Notable works include editing the Turkish translation of 'Psikoterapide Bağlanma' (2020) and co-authoring studies on alexithymia in essential tremor and restless legs syndrome.
Current academic responsibilities include coordinating the Erasmus program at Doğuş Üniversitesi and teaching courses like Biological Psychology, Professional Ethics in Psychology, and Cognitive Psychology. He supervises PhD and master's theses addressing topics such as alexithymia-neurocognitive links and trauma-related psychopathology.
Awarded certifications as a psychodynamic psychotherapist (2019), existential analyst/logotherapist (2018), and cognitive-behavioral therapist (2012). Professional memberships include Istanbul Tabip Odası, Turkish Psychiatric Association, and Existential Psychotherapy Association.
