Omofolawe Otun serves as a full-time university lecturer in Nigeria while concurrently pursuing part-time PhD studies at the University of Reading under Professors Tom Sizmur, Liz Shaw, and John Hammond within the Environmental Science Research Division.
Her academic credentials include:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Ibadan (Nigeria)
- Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Ibadan
- MSc with Distinction in Environmental Pollution from the University of Reading, where her dissertation examined cocoa pod husk as an alternative to inorganic NPK fertilizers for Ghanaian cocoa farmers
Her research investigates how intercropping—a traditional agricultural practice—enhances soil health through microbial community development, disease suppression, and nutrient-use efficiency. This work bridges soil chemistry and microbiology to advance sustainable land management and increased crop yields per unit area.
As Vice President of JUCE Africa (Juvenile Career Education), she drives initiatives providing career mentorship and exposure for African youth. Current documentation indicates no scientific awards or research grants, and no student advisement responsibilities are specified given her dual role as lecturer and doctoral candidate.
