Omeed Goodarzi is a musician, composer, and lecturer currently pursuing his MFA in Music at Bennington College. He serves as a visiting lecturing artist and musical accompanist in the dance and theatre department at Amherst College. He has lectured at Amherst College, Bennington College, and Hampshire College on topics including sound design, microtonal music, improvisation for dance, and the philosophy of music.
His educational background includes:
- BA in Philosophy from Bennington College
- Currently pursuing MFA in Music at Bennington College
Goodarzi's research and artistic practice focuses on microtonal music practices from ancient times to the 20th century, acoustic ecology, and the philosophy of musical tuning. His work also spans instrument building, improvisation, and songwriting. He has studied music theory with Chris Weisman and participated in instrument building workshops at Looky Here in Greenfield, Massachusetts.
As a prolific musician, he has released over 30 records through Feeding Tube Records and has toured the world since the age of 15. He has also served as the creative director of The Anarchestra Foundation.
