Ombeline Labaune serves as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Sports Sciences, University of Paris-Saclay, where she conducts research at the intersection of psychology and motor control. Her academic work focuses on understanding human movement patterns and their perceptual correlates.
Her research primarily investigates the concept of 'vigor' in human movement, examining both the production and perception of movement characteristics such as speed, duration, frequency, and amplitude. Labaune's work explores how individuals spontaneously choose movement parameters in various tasks and how these choices vary between individuals.
Her research program consists of two main components: first examining the consistency of inter-individual differences in movement vigor across different motor tasks involving various effectors (ocular saccades, dominant and non-dominant arm movements, walking); and second investigating the relationship between produced vigor and perceived vigor when observing others' movements. She specifically studies what underlies judgments of movement vigor - whether these judgments are based on an observer's internal motor repertoire or external environmental references, exploring the expression of the 'law of vigor' in perceptual contexts.
