Omar Beas is an Associate Teaching Professor at Arizona State University's School of International Letters and Cultures. He holds a Ph.D. in General Linguistics from the University of Southern California (2007) and a B.A. in Hispanic Linguistics and Literature from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (1998). Before joining ASU in 2012, he served as a visiting assistant professor and lecturer in Los Angeles. His primary research focuses on linguistic typology, syntactic structures in Spanish, and historical evolution of the Spanish verbal phrase related to grammatical voice and aspectual systems.

Research interests include formal generative syntax, phonetics, morphology, and second language acquisition. He teaches advanced Spanish linguistics courses such as Spanish Grammar in Context, Fundamentals of Spanish Linguistics, and Structure of Spanish. Courses emphasize syntactic analysis, historical linguistics, and applied linguistic principles.
