Omaima Eldeeb is a Visiting Lecturer at the Alexandria Centre for Maritime Archaeology and a Casual Academic at Flinders University's College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Maritime Archaeology (2020) from Flinders University, alongside advanced degrees from Alexandria University in Egypt, including a Master of Arts (2014) and a Graduate Diploma (2011) in Maritime Archaeology and Heritage Management. Her research focuses on underwater cultural heritage management, amphorae analysis, and ancient trade networks, employing methods like photogrammetry and network analysis.
Eldeeb has received prestigious awards including the Vice Chancellor’s Doctoral Thesis Excellence Award (2020) and the Best Student Paper Prize from AIMA (2019). She actively engages with professional organizations, serving on councils for ICOMOS Australia and the Australian Archaeological Association. Her work bridges academic research with practical heritage management, advocating for sustainable preservation and public accessibility of underwater cultural sites.
Her professional roles include Health and Safety Representation at Flinders and digitization work at the South Australian Museum. Eldeeb’s interdisciplinary approach integrates archaeological fieldwork with digital technologies, contributing to global debates on heritage protection and education.
