Dr. Oluremi Alapo is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at York College and Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) within CUNY. She teaches in the History Department at York College and Business Management at BMCC, focusing on cultural diversity, Black studies, and leadership. Her research interests include migrant experiences, decolonized historical truths, anti-racist pedagogies, post-colonial studies, gender equity, and organizational leadership. She holds a Doctorate in Ministry (Peace and Justice) from HJ International Graduate School and a Ph.D. in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. Dr. Alapo is actively involved in social justice initiatives, serving on the History Department’s Social Justice Committee and advising the African Student Association and International Youth Fellowship. She is also the Executive Director of the Institute for Peace and Leadership, promoting UN Sustainable Development Goals. Her work bridges academia and activism, emphasizing global equity and peacebuilding.
Education includes a BA in French (SUNY Albany, 1998), MA in African Studies (SUNY Albany, 2000), and certifications in ACUE and OER pedagogy. Professional activities include roles with the International Human Rights Commission, New York African Studies Association, and Women’s Federation for World Peace. She has published extensively on leadership, cultural studies, and social justice, with recent works focusing on decolonizing education and racial disparities. Grants include CUNY BSAA-BRESI funding and OER initiatives.
