
Francisco Delgado

Francisco Delgado is an Assistant Professor of English at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), part of The City University of New York (CUNY). As a CHamoru scholar and member of the Tonawanda Band of Seneca through his maternal lineage, he specializes in Native American/Indigenous Literatures, Asian American Literatures, and Literatures of the Pacific.

His research explores Indigenous relationships with the U.S. military, Native/Indigenous hope, and representations of Indigenous joy. He has pioneered courses like ENG 329: Native American/Indigenous Literatures and co-developed CUNY’s Native Studies curricula with the American Indian Community House. Recent publications examine:

- Necropolitics in Transmotion (2020)
- Environmental sovereignty in Memory Studies (2019)
- Border narratives in The CEA Critic (2017)

He serves on the MLA Forum on Indigenous Literatures of the U.S. and Canada and collaborates with CUNY institutions to expand Native Studies offerings. His personal life in Queens, New York, with his family informs his creative nonfiction and poetry published in Newtown Literary, Queensbound, and Lost Balloon.
