Ollie Phipps

Ollie Phipps serves as Principal Lecturer in Adult Nursing at Canterbury Christ Church University, where he holds the position of Professional Lead for Advanced Practice & Non-Medical Prescribing. He maintains active clinical practice as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner within the NHS and holds honorary Associate Professorships at multiple institutions. Additionally, he is recognized as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and serves as an ordained priest in the Church of England's Rochester Diocese.

His research centers on Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) and Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP), with emphasis on role development, scope of practice governance, and systems-level approaches to emergency and acute care. He champions clinical leadership frameworks that establish safe, person-centered pathways across healthcare ecosystems, drawing from extensive frontline experience in emergency medicine and acute care divisions.

Phipps has led critical Health Education England (HEE) initiatives including pandemic-era workforce development programs for Advanced Clinical Practice. He currently chairs the Royal College of Physicians' ACP workstream for HEE and previously chaired the Royal College of Nursing's Advanced Nurse Practitioner Forum. His national advisory roles encompass contributions to NICE guidelines (NG94) for Emergency and Acute Medical Care and expert consultation for the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD).
