Oliver William Rowe is a Research Fellow in Political Science at the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies, University of Tartu. His current positions (2022–2025) involve research and teaching in political science with a focus on historical political developments. He is pursuing a PhD under Prof. Eva Piirimäe, investigating self-determination dynamics in the Russian Empire (1914–1924).

Research Interests: Dr. Rowe examines self-determination theory, post-imperial transitions, and political historiography. His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary political debates, particularly focusing on the collapse of empires and national identity formation.

- 2025: Co-presented on self-determination in European history at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich
- 2024: Delivered lectures on Tartu's role in self-determination and analyzed Philip K. Dick's political fiction
- 2023: Explored White Movement ideology and Bolshevik self-determination policies at international conferences
