Research Interests: Saharov explores intellectual histories of perestroika, dissent and reformism in East-Central Europe, market-oriented management in state socialism, futurology, and conceptual histories of 'self-management' and 'sovereignty.' His work bridges political theory with empirical analysis of transnational expert networks, particularly forecasting methods used in late Soviet regimes.
Key Themes in Publications: His articles analyze how expert languages (e.g., scenario methods) facilitated political innovation during the Soviet breakup, linking academic concepts to policy discourse. Recent work emphasizes Estonia and Czechoslovakia's 1970s–1990s trajectories, particularly the transition from forecasting institutes to political platforms.
Awards & Grants: Member of the Estonian Research Council's 'Self-Determination' project. No specific awards listed, but active in funded research initiatives.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with the Imre Kertész Kolleg Jena on transnational expert-language studies during democratization in Eastern Europe. Engaged with the 'History of Concepts Group' and Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies.
