Oliver Tapaha

Oliver Tapaha, Assistant Professor in the Department of Education Policy, Organization & Leadership at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's College of Education, is a Diné/Navajo scholar from northeastern Arizona. His work focuses on Indigenous education, tribal institutional review boards, and educational policy leadership. He contributes to research on diversity, ethics, and cultural frameworks in education.

Dr. Tapaha teaches graduate seminars on educational policy, leadership, and diversity. Recent publications address tribal IRB processes and Indigenous-led projects at UIUC.

With 12+ years of K-12 teaching experience on Navajo reservations and leadership roles at Diné College, he bridges Indigenous knowledge systems with academic structures. Current projects include advising on tribal college collaborations and advancing culturally responsive policy frameworks.
