Oliver Söhnlein

Professor Oliver Söhnlein is a faculty member at the University Hospital Münster, affiliated with the Institute of Experimental Pathology and the Center for Molecular Biology of Inflammation (ZMBE). His research specializes in neutrophilic granulocytes, inflammation pathways, and atherosclerosis, with projects examining plaque destabilization, neutrophil-monocyte interactions, and metabolic reprogramming in cardiovascular disease.

He leads significant DFG-funded initiatives, including:

• TRR 332: Neutrophilic Granulocytes: Development, Behavior, and Function (as Speaker)
• Hyperglycemia-induced metabolic reprogramming in atherosclerosis (Sub-project Manager)
• Visualization of neutrophils in biological contexts

Additionally, he secured critical research infrastructure:

• Microscope for antibody-based multiplex imaging
• Spectral 5-laser cell sorting system for BSL2 samples
