Prof. Dominic Busch holds the W3 Chair in Intercultural Communication and Conflict Research at the Bundeswehr University Munich. He serves on the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Human Sciences and has held roles such as Dean of Studies and Internship Officer. His research focuses on intercultural communication, conflict resolution, and the theoretical foundations of mediation, with a particular interest in posthumanist and ecological turns in intercultural studies.
Busch earned his Dr. phil. (summa cum laude) in 2004 from the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) for his work on intercultural mediation. His academic career includes junior professorships and international collaborations, including a visiting professorship at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland.
His research interests span intercultural ethics, cultural theory, and interdisciplinary methodologies. Recent work explores post-qualitative research approaches and the intersection of intercultural sustainability with global ethics. He has authored 137+ publications, including monographs, edited volumes, and peer-reviewed articles.
Awarded the Mediation Science Prize 2004, Busch is a member of organizations like the International Academy for Intercultural Research (IAIR) and serves as a peer reviewer for journals such as Language and Intercultural Communication. His teaching spans undergraduate and graduate courses in intercultural communication, theoretical reflections, and practical problem-solving.
Busch’s work bridges academic research and practical applications, emphasizing the role of intercultural competence in contemporary societal challenges, including digital transformation and organizational dynamics.
