Oliver Semmelroch is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of Education, Weingarten. He contributes to teacher training programs and the Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Nutrition, offering courses such as "Sociology of Education," "Social Inequality," "Family Sociology," and "Leisure Sociology." His research focuses on educational trajectories, inclusion in schools, and theories of deviant behavior, with a particular emphasis on parental decision-making in education systems.

He is currently pursuing a dissertation project titled "On the Formation of Parental Educational Decisions in the Newly Reformed Education System of Baden-Württemberg," analyzing how families justify school choices. Additionally, he has collaborated on the "FABiG" project since November 2015, advising the municipality of Meckenbeuren on structuring all-day schools.
