Oliver Hofmann

Oliver Hofmann is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Solid State Physics (Graz University of Technology). His work focuses on the computational discovery of novel materials and interfaces, particularly for nanotechnology applications like organic solar cells and OLEDs.

Research interests include:

• Structure prediction for thin films and metastable phases
• Charge/energy transfer across organic-inorganic interfaces
• Adsorption processes and defects in organic monolayers
• Machine learning algorithms for material discovery
• Development of "SAMPLE" algorithm
• Density functional theory (DFT) methodology advancement

His group employs DFT calculations and ab-initio thermodynamics to study surface science problems and material properties superior to bulk phases.
