Dr Oliver Hazzard is a Senior Lecturer in the School of English at the University of St Andrews. His research focuses on modern and contemporary poetry, particularly John Ashbery and Anglo-American literary exchanges. He has published extensively on these topics, including monographs like John Ashbery and Anglo-American exchange: the minor eras (2018) and Sleepers awake (2025). His work bridges critical analysis, literary history, and performance studies. Dr Hazzard currently supervises PhD students Honor Hamlet, Frances Loyen, Maria Theresa Moerman, and Ib.
His research interests encompass contemporary poetry's formal innovations, transatlantic literary networks, and the intersection of textual and performative art. Notable contributions include special journal issues on John Ashbery and interdisciplinary projects like the audio recording of Graig Syfyrddin (2016).
