Oliver Crisp is a Professor of Analytic Theology and Co-Director of the Logos Institute for Analytic and Exegetical Theology at the University of St Andrews' School of Divinity. He holds advanced degrees from the University of Aberdeen (BD, MTh, LLM) and a PhD in Philosophy of Religion from the University of London, with a DLitt in philosophical theology from Aberdeen. His research focuses on analytic theology, philosophy of religion, systematic/historical theology, and legal theory.
Prof Crisp has held roles at Fuller Theological Seminary, University of Bristol, and has been a postdoctoral fellow at Notre Dame and Princeton. He co-founded the Los Angeles Theology Conference and Scottish Dogmatics Conference series. He serves as Senior Editor of the Journal of Analytic Theology and co-edits the Oxford Studies in Analytic Theology series.
His major grants include a $2M project on theological formation at Fuller and a Templeton-funded 'Godless Religion' project. Research interests include atonement theory, theological anthropology, and interdisciplinary engagement with psychology. Supervised PhD students focus on topics like Christology, soteriology, and theological method.
Recent publications address Christology, atonement models, infant baptism, and interdisciplinary theological anthropology. He actively participates in global theological dialogues and contributes to contemporary debates on theology's role in academia and society.
