معرفی
Professor Oliver Buxton holds the position of Professor of Fluid Mechanics in the Department of Aeronautics at Imperial College London, part of the Faculty of Engineering. His research focuses on laser diagnostics in turbulent flows, multiscale-generated turbulence, and turbulent entrainment, with recent EPSRC and ERC funding supporting projects on wind turbine wakes and Martian aerodynamics. He has held roles from Lecturer (2013) to Reader (2021) before becoming Professor in 2024.
Education includes a PhD in Fluid Mechanics (Imperial College, 2007–2011) and a joint M.A./M.Eng. in Engineering from the University of Cambridge (2003–2007). He conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Texas at Austin (2011–2013).
Research interests span cloud microphysics (turbulent entrainment in cumulus clouds) and Martian atmospheric dynamics (low Reynolds number flight in CO₂-dominated environments). He leads the Flowfield Imaging Lab and collaborates on DNS-based studies. Recent awards include an EPSRC Fellowship and an ERC grant (2024–2029).
His work bridges experimental and computational fluid dynamics, with contributions to wake modeling, turbine optimization, and planetary rotorcraft design. Key collaborations include NASA-funded Martian aerodynamics studies and wind farm efficiency projects.
