معرفی
Jens Fransson is a Professor of Experimental Fluid Mechanics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden) and holds a part-time professorship in Indoor Environment at the University of Gävle. He earned his M.Sc. in Engineering Physics from KTH (1999), Ph.D. in Fluid Mechanics (2004), and became an Associate Professor in 2007. His research focuses on fluid dynamics, particularly controlling laminar-turbulent transition in boundary layers to reduce energy losses and emissions. Key achievements include demonstrating that strategically placed surface elements can delay turbulence, validated via wind tunnel experiments. He received the Göran Gustafsson Prize (2005, 2008) and an ERC Starting Grant (2010) for his AFRODITE project on passive flow control.
His work spans theoretical and applied research, including automotive aerodynamics, wind energy, and environmental fluid mechanics. Recent studies address wake dynamics of wind turbines and turbulence transition mechanisms. He leads the Fluid Physics Lab and collaborates on projects like the CICLoPE facility for high-Reynolds-number experiments. His teaching includes courses on mechanics, aerodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
