Olga Lubman

Olga Lubman serves as an Assistant Professor of Biology at Maryville University of Saint Louis, actively teaching within the HHMI-funded SEA-PHAGES program. She leads a Fall 2024 section focused on phage discovery using Arthrobacter globiformis as the host bacterium, instructing 8 undergraduate students (1 freshman, 1 sophomore, 1 junior, and 5 seniors) through 6 weekly contact hours across two sessions.

Her research and pedagogical work centers on bacteriophage genomics and evolutionary science, emphasizing authentic undergraduate research experiences. Through the SEA-PHAGES initiative, she engages students in microbial diversity studies, phage isolation, and genomic characterization, contributing to national efforts in science education reform and viral ecology.
