Amy Jones

Amy Jones is a Lecturer at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) serving as Primary Instructor for the SEA-PHAGES program's BIO 2073 course, a Howard Hughes Medical Institute-funded undergraduate research experience in phage discovery. She has taught this course continuously since Fall 2022 through scheduled Fall 2025 sections, guiding 77 students across multiple academic years in microbiology research.

Her research and teaching focus on bacteriophage biology, microbial genomics, and evolutionary science. Students under her instruction isolate and characterize phages using hosts like Arthrobacter globiformis and Microbacterium foliorum, gaining hands-on experience in genomic analysis and microbial genetics through this national collaborative program.
