معرفی
Oleg Starykh is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Utah, where he has been since 2012. His research focuses on quantum phases of strongly correlated electron systems, quantum phase transitions, and the competition between classical and quantum ordering tendencies. He has taught advanced courses such as Advanced Solid State I, Quantum Field Theory I, and Statistical Mechanics, with a notable Quantum Magnetism course in Spring 2013.
- Education:
- MS in Physics from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Russia
- PhD in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics from the Russian Academy of Sciences
Research Trends: His recent publications highlight studies on quantum spin chains, spin liquids, magnetization plateaus, and the interplay of spin-orbit coupling in low-dimensional systems. Key subfields include topological phases, hydrodynamic theories, and electron spin resonance as probes of quantum states.
Teaching Contributions: Dr. Starykh has taught graduate courses in Quantum Field Theory, Statistical Mechanics, and Solid State Physics since 2004, emphasizing modern theoretical approaches and experimental connections. He took sabbatical leaves in 2017 and 2010.
