Ole Christian Lingjærde is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Oslo (UiO), affiliated with the Department of Informatics. He serves as Head of the Department for Informatics and leads multiple research groups, including the Biomedical Informatics Research Group (BMI) and the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics group within the KG Jebsen Centre for Breast Cancer Research. His work integrates computational methods with biological systems, focusing on cancer genomics and statistical modeling.
- Academic Roles:
- Professor, Department of Informatics, UiO
- Head of Department for Informatics
- Head of Bioinformatics in the MetAction project
- Senior Investigator at the Centre for Cancer Biomedicine (UiO)
Research interests center on mathematical/statistical modeling of biological systems, molecular evolution in cancer, and large-scale genomic data analysis. Key projects include development of tools like CARMA, ASCAT, and CAAI for analyzing genomic aberrations in tumors. His work bridges computational methods with clinical applications, particularly in breast and colorectal cancers.
Publications focus on genomic profiling, immune biomarkers, and clinical trial outcomes, emphasizing integrative omics approaches. Supervised over 20 PhD and master’s students in bioinformatics and cancer research. Active in collaborative centers like CELS (Centre for Computational Inference in Evolutionary Life Science).
